Intelligence Several short stories about various AI robots developed over several decades/generations. A0 Main creator: Arrogant, elitist guy, dies of cancer before finishing his work. Main model (M0): Lacks any anger or fluctuating emotions, runs on a battery. Has ports in back of neck for interfacing. A1 Main creator: Student of first creator, feels weighed down by the burden of completing his teacher's work while trying to take care of family. Feels emotion can be added to A series by creativity Main model (M1): Loses ability to move and no easy solution is found to fix her w/o wiping all data. Improvises ways of expressing feelings with names of colors, things, etc. First model capable of smell. A2 Main creator: Feels previous creators were not thorough enough, runs a "copy" of each model on a computer with no body, only for debugging/testing and running data through to see reactions. Adds synthesesia w/ music producing a vision or scene. Adds ability for models to interface w/ devices using their tounges. Falls in love with M3, this turns tragic as it is unable to sustain these emotions and loses sanity. Main model (M2): Has tendency to talk with herself in a mirror. This escalates until she is unable to take herself away from it. Turns into major identity disorder. A3 Main creator: After the breakdown of A2's creator, a group is formed for the next model. Safeguards are put into place so that this kind of event can't happen again. Main model (M3): Malfunctioning emotions. Cries at random. Asks people if they need hugs at random. Unable to determine what others are expressing at times. First model w/ a human-like metabolism. Can only process pure, granulated sugar. A4 Main creator: Same group as A3 but with a few new people and some having quit after A3's failure. Main model (M4): First "stable" model. The artificial limitations that keep her intelligence at a human level fail (or sabatoged), and she gains superhuman intellect and memory. She was not designed to do this, as the other levels intelligence was meant to keep her stable. Eventually grows unstable and crashes. Metabolism is now able to process simple starches, etc.
