Whisper

Whisper Protagonist crash lands his ship on a giant living creature. Vents on it shoot out oxygen. They come across a makeshift village on the creature, with aliens living there. They have culture, emotions, etc. They feed off of the giant creature, which they have named Mother. The giant creature constantly sends out Cleansers, which the aliens call Fear. These Cleansers are giant amoebas that attempt to eat the aliens whole. Also, the creature will sometimes open great gaping holes in itself and attempt to swallow some aliens whole! Eventually, protagonist decides to talk to the core of the creature. They end up talking about it's existance and the aliens. He says the aliens, despite their culture and emotions, are nothing but parasites. Protagonist argues that their existance is justified by their culture, emotions, and good nature. The core says none of these things matter, and existance is all that matters. It claims his ship crash landing into it caused some damage, and he should leave immediately. He fixes his ship and leaves, knowing the cycle of parasite and host will continue on regardless.
